Background

Even as a young child, Jaimee was struck by an interest in hearing and understanding the stories of her family and friends. She sought not just to hear narratives but also to understand the feelings behind the stories and help the people around her as best she could. As a young adult, she followed this passion for people by receiving a degree in Family Studies from California State University, Sacramento.

Jaimee came to the Alpha Behavioral Counseling Center after receiving her master's degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix. As a licensed therapist, she enjoys listening to her clients' stories and empowering them to have confidence in themselves and in the decisions they make.

Specialties

It can be difficult to move past certain events in life, and it can be impossible to know how to heal yourself when you're not sure what's wrong. Sometimes, all we have are the feelings and stories that we carry with us. As Maya Angelou once said, "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” If you're feeling lost, hopeless, or confused about your next step in life, it's important to get help. The best next step may be simply talking to a qualified therapist who has experience listening and can assist you in making sense of the story that lives within you.

In her practice, Jaimee employs Narrative Therapy to help her patients understand that they are not the "problem" in their own lives. She recognizes the importance of everyone's unique stories and backgrounds, and she enjoys working with clients of all ages, genders, sexualities, professions, and religions. Though she is open to working with anyone, she strives particularly to help those affected by the following situations and concerns:

  • Grief and loss
  • Trauma
  • Abuse
  • Domestic violence
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
