Ryan Smith, Associate Clinical Social Worker

Associate Clinical Social Worker
Ryan Smith is a therapist with over twenty years experience working with every age group. Specializing in transitional-aged youth, Ryan uses a combination of therapies--from CBT to DBT to solutions-focused therapy--to best fit clients’ needs and to help them incite positive change.
He enjoys working with people to help them meet their goals, and says that they always have the answer within them to solve their problems. He approaches them first as a person; not as a case file to be fixed. He believes in treating people with compassion, meeting them where they are at, and in the powerful parallel process that happens in the therapy process.
Ryan is a certified Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) trainer, has led many professional development sessions, and presented at the WRAP Around the World Conference on the topic of using music as a tool for wellness. He has lectured on various topics at CSU Fresno. He has led groups focused on setting healthy boundaries, addiction recovery, depression, bi-polar support, schizophrenia support, LGBTQI+ support, mental health family support, and Transitional Aged Youth support.
Ryan earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Human Services from University of Phoenix, Central Valley, and his Master’s of Social Work from California State University Fresno. He is currently accruing hours to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
