Erika’s approach to therapy is therapeutic due to her gentle presence that puts most people at ease, yet at the same time is outgoing, creative, and enthusiastic allowing her to build a relationship with her clients quickly. She has exceptional communication skills which shine when coordinating care both within our center and with our systems partners such as; schools, county courts, CPS Social Workers, and family partners. She is mindful about respecting cultural diversity and providing individualized client centered care, yet at the same time keeping in mind her ethical responsibilities both to her agency and her clients.
One of the most admirable qualities Erika possesses is her willingness to learn and desire to grow professionally. She is always willing to try new things, is not afraid to ask questions, and brings creativity and resourcefulness to her work with vulnerable families. She is an extremely hard worker, always willing to go the extra mile to meet her client’s and agencies expectations.
Erika earned her Masters of Arts degree in Psychology of Counseling from National University in Fresno CA. She received her Bachelors of Science as a double major in Public Health and Gerontology from California State University, Fresno. While Erika was working on her Master’s she gained her Trainee experience at Promesa Behavioral Health. While at Promesa, Erika worked with teenagers Mothers in a group home setting using Dialectal Behavioral Therapy. Erika facilitated group therapy using Dialectal Behavioral Therapy and has experience teaching anger management to teenagers. Erika also has experience working with Uplift Family Services where she was a clinician in the HOPE program. At uplift she provided therapy to high risk families and children. At Uplift, Erika was trained in Infant Mental Health working with the 0-5 population. One of Erika’s many passions is working with infants and toddlers utilizing Child Parent Psychotherapy- a trauma, attachment focused treatment modality. Erika has two years of experience in diagnosing personality disorders, childhood emotional disorders, conduct disorders, trauma disorders, anxiety, depression and Obsessive-compulsive disorders as well. Erika has experience as a group, individual, couples and family therapist.
Erika believes the therapeutic relationship is utilized effectively when the client and therapist enter the relationship with a connection, trust and transparent understanding of one another. Erika believes in a safe, confidential, ethical and open client therapist relationship. She believes through transparency, education, trust and a desire to act, anything can be accomplished through therapy.
